The Southeast Valley .Net Users Group (SEVDNUG) is holding an Object Relational Mapper / Data Access Layer shootout where technologies like LINQ to SQL, NHibernate, ActiveRecord, .netTiers. QuickObjects, and Enterprise Library will be squaring off in the round database to fight for data access supremacy during its July 24, 2008 meeting. Sounds like a lot of fun, doesn’t it? The truth of the matter is we are trying to expose the local .Net developers community to all of the wonderful data access choices we have today, including some non-Microsoft technologies.
The rules have been laid out on the SEVDNUG website and the shootout will include a list of tasks that each technology will have to demonstrate. To help keep the contest fair and pleasant, a SQL database and schema has been provided to each contestant technology in advance of the shootout. Each contestant will have approximately 15 minutes to demonstrate the technology, then have a short question and answer session before the next opponent.
